Strand 2-Present a range of feasible ideas

Image
I think that my design would be focusing on creating a sort of hand-glove product that would be thick and effective to my design situation.   There for I have thought of two products that will be my ideas. The first idea is cheaper and more affordable while the second idea is a bit expensive but much more effective.  Both my ideas include two sketches of a design product that could be successful against the situation.  After my two sketches, I will be showing a little story scene where it includes my product with a satisfied customer. Strand 4- Developing a Detailed Design Brief

Raynaud's Disorder Brief: I will be attempting to create a sort of cost efficient aluminium glove that will help people with Raynaud's disorder perform day to day tasks without problem like holding an ice tray or cold drink.  Design Brief: Most people who are affected by Raynaud's disorder can not perform day to day tasks because of their rare disorder that affects their body physically when they touch cold objects or get near them. A person affected by this will suffer major damage in their limbs. If a person would wear ordinary gloves this would temporarily reduce the stress and effects however the effects will be the same. That is why I have thought of creating a thicker version of gloves that is cost efficient and reliable. The material of this would be made of aluminium. I decided to create this design made of aluminium for many reasons, Aluminium is a cheap item because it is recycled very easily and because it has high melting points and low freezing poin

Strand 3 - Analysis of existing products

Design Situation: Raynaud's Syndrome Existing Product: Gloves  Strengths: It can help reduce the stress and low temperature when the limbs touch anything cold.  Weaknesses: It can only help reduce the stress and low temperatures however the affects will be roughly similar  Opportunities: I think that the average gloves would have been much more useful for this exact disorder if it were much thicker so it could help avoid it's specific cause Threats: Creating a more thicker version of gloves is less cost efficient Creating thicker gloves is more time-consuming for both people and machines Creating thicker plastic gloves is doing more harm than good as it will create more pollution and will become a complicated process as materials will have to be re-arranged

Strand 2-Primary and secondary Research

Secondary Research based on reports of Raynaud's Disorder.

Criteria A- Strand 1 Design Situation

Design Situation Raynaud Phenomenon  It is a rare phenomenon that affects less than 1% of the population. This disease causes the affected to feel numbness in their fingers and toes in response to cold temperature or stress. It makes the finger/toes (limbs) look discolored because of the lack of blood circulation. When the affected person come into contact with cold temperatures or/stress, the arteries in their fingers/toes (limbs) will narrow avoiding blood circulation. There are 3 stages of Raynaud's, it is often called the three phase colored sequence - White to blue to Red. The first phase is when their bodies come into contact with cold temperatures/ stress, their hands begin to look white because of lack of blood circulation in the arteries.  The second phase is when the limbs begin to look a little blue because of the depletion of oxygen in the tissues of the fingers, hands, toes and feet. The third phase usually comes after 10-12 mins of first exposure an
